Whew, another post loaded with the richness of the gospel. And the challenge of the gospel...and the grace.

Mostly I wanted to say thanks because just a few hours ago I had a conversation with someone who was wrestling with forgiveness. This post helped me see that there may not be any easy formula for me to recommend, but there is the promise of Peace on the other side of forgiveness.

I wonder if you could expand on the idea of forgiving self in another post. That would be appreciated.

Finally, kudos for somehow squeezing in another Dylan quote, but balancing it out with a latin quote from Luther. Chef's kiss!

I use an analogy from a wedding reception. The meal is paid for, and the one who paid for it wants you to celebrate with him. Don't mess it up by trying to pay your fair share at a wedding banquet. Just enjoy and thank the host.

Also, Kudos to you. You've noticed my unspoken goal to shove Jesus, Luther, and Bob Dylan onto every unsuspecting audience I come in contact with.

Is this a part one? I’m curious to hear the rest of the story. How did it work to transform the straw man argument into a bridge for the gospel?

How did it work? :-) I just plant the seeds, Apollos waters, and God causes the increase.

I will say, I backtracked with some humor that I didn't include here. I don't think I made the person feel bad. Her "solution" is everyone's heart's first impulse. So, I totally get why it felt validating to her. However, I think I presented the gospel as the unintuitive — and therefore obviously hidden — better choice. Sort of like, "I get why you like that salsa in a jar, but let me show you what real Mexicans eat. You're gonna love it!"
